This comprehensive new school for the 600 kindergarten to grade 12 French speaking students of the Victoria Region replaces an old and dysfunctional facility, adding community spaces including a pre-school and daycare facilities, and a well-equipped black box theatre. The new facility offers contemporary learning environments, enhanced by the use of environmentally-friendly materials, an efficient mechanical system and generous use of daylight.
The school building as well as the site development was undertaken based on sustainability principles with a projected energy use 37% below the Model National Energy Code of Canada. The project attained a LEED Silver designation in spite of a constrained construction budget.
