The elements of this new school, serving the adjacent communities of Skidegate and Queen Charlotte City were inspired by the indigenous First Nation construction techniques as well as reflecting elements from the local logging and fishing traditions of Haida Gwaii. Located within a newly-developed residential community, the project maintains as much has possible the natural features of the landscape, including the topography, forested areas, and an open watercourse forming part of the natural drainage system of the area.
The project was completed under the predecessor firm, Acton Johnson Ostry Architects.
