Situated on an island in Howe Sound near Vancouver, this facility of the United Church of Canada has been providing camping experiences to children and families for over eighty years. As part of an initiative to upgrade the facilities to present day standards in order to enable greater year-round use and to expand the potential client base, a master planning exercise was undertaken to identify the most effective interventions. A number of significant building projects have been identifed, and will be undertaken over the next two year period.
The remoteness of the site requires an independence in terms of electrical power, water and sewer systems, and issues of energy performance, long-term sustainability and ease of maintenance are prime considerations.
